The Church is also an enormously important bridgehead to the Methodist congregations in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia and Albania. Various attempts to unite the increasingly diverse traditions within Protestantism have met with limited success. Revivalism generated enormous growth in denominations attuned to it, especially the Baptists and Methodists. They allowed any "believer" to administer sacraments, rejected Catholic feast days with very few exceptions, and they ultimately disassociated themselves from physical paraphernalia including buildings, cemeteries, liturgies, and the like.
